Join Inter/Micro and the State Microscopical Society of Illinois (SMSI) as they honor John Gustav Delly (1934–2024) with the 2024 Émile M. Chamot Award. Mr. Delly was presented with the award and accepted the Chamot medal earlier this year. SMSI will highlight and illustrate his long and distinguished microscopy career.

Particles of Combustion and Their Sources 2-Day Workshop Sponsored by Cargille Labs and Jan Burmeister
9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (lunch: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.) both daysMcCrone Laboratories and Classrooms This hands-on workshop taught by Ernest (Russ) Crutcher will demonstrate how particles of combustion are identified along with their source. The fuel and the conditions of combustion, such as temperature and oxygen availability, produce telltale optical characteristics on and in these particles. We will examine some of these characteristics produced by wildfires, structure fires, home combustion sources, vehicle emissions, and industrial combustion sources. Learn more
