Paper Fiber Microscopy and Analysis 2-Day Workshop, sponsored by Cargille Labs
9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (lunch: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.) both daysMcCrone Laboratories and Classrooms This hands-on microscopy workshop taught by Walter J. Rantanen, will concentrate on the microscopy, sample preparation, and analysis of some common types of wood and other fibers used in the pulp and paper industry. Participants in this workshop will learn how to use various wood and reference pulp and paper product material and slurries to make their own microscope slide preparations that can be studied and kept for their own use. This hands-on 2-day workshop offers detailed instruction in microanalysis, including chemical staining and microscopical identification techniques, used for wood and paper fibers. A certificate of successful completion from McCrone Research Institute will be awarded to each student at the conclusion of the workshop. Learn more
